Exceptional Care for the Entire Family

Primary and Preventive Care

Berks Community Health Center offers your entire family primary and preventive health care services. Primary care is your first stop for health care. Why? Because your Primary Care Provider (PCP) and their whole medical team get to know you. They are your first contact and main point of contact for all continuing care. You become a very important member of the health care team, where everyone is dedicated to improving and maintaining your good health.

Primary care is the day-to-day healthcare given by one of our board-certified family physicians or nurse practitioners. As your PCP, he or she promotes effective communication with you and encourages you to be an active partner in your health care.

Primary care includes diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, health promotion and education, disease prevention, health maintenance, counseling, and coordination with specialists. Disease prevention, including vaccinations and screenings, is very important, because it is aimed at preventing diseases from happening, as opposed to treating diseases that already exist.

About Newborn Care

Baby’s first visit is scheduled about one to two days after hospital discharge. Often your hospital care team will call us to make the appointment.  If not, you can call to schedule the first visit, and we make sure newborns are seen promptly. From then on, your little one will be seen regularly for well-child checks, all immunizations, school and camp physicals, and same day sick visits if needed.

Think You Might Be Pregnant?

Be Smart from the Start! As soon as you know you are going to have a baby, it’s very important to start prenatal care.  Start prenatal care during the first three months.

Free pregnancy testing is available at all of our health center locations. There is no need to make an appointment, and you don’t have to be a BCHC patient. You may simply walk in and request a free pregnancy test at the front desk and our staff will take care of you.  If you are pregnant, we will refer you for early prenatal care so you and your baby have the best chance to be healthy.
