Yesterday we shared one of our Gold recognitions from the American Heart Association, but that was not the only one we received! We also were recognized with the Target: BP Gold Award!High blood pressure, or hypertension, is a leading risk factor for heart attacks, strokes and preventable death in the U.S. There are 122.4 million U.S. adults living with hypertension. That is nearly half of all adults in the country. Unfortunately, just a quarter of them have their BP under control, making both diagnosis and effective management critical. In the next few days we will be sharing details on the three Gold Awards we recently received from the American Heart Association!First is the American Heart Association’s Check. Change. Control. Cholesterol™ Gold award in recognition of our commitment to reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke through improved cholesterol management. Cholesterol is one of the primary causal risk factors for the development of atherosclerosis. More than 86 million adults in the U.S. have total cholesterol levels of 200 mg/dL or higher, and only slightly more than half of them are appropriately managing the condition.
